YAKU LFW 2026
The idea
I wanted the images to feel bright, playful and memorable, while keeping the slightly surreal quality of YAKU's work.
The set immediately stood out to me. The grass, painted scenery and mountain backdrop made the space feel like another world, so I wanted to bring that feeling into the photographs rather than simply document the show.
How I shot it
I wanted to capture the movement of the models, their expressions and the interactions happening around the show.
I don't like very stiff or straight on runway photos. I prefer shooting from the side or at an angle, which gives the models more dimension and lets you see more of the shape and movement of the garments.
I also like photographing people without them looking directly at the camera. Once someone makes eye contact, the image can feel more posed and confrontational. Shooting from an indirect angle lets me capture people as they naturally move through the space.
People
I noticed a few audience members whose styling fitted closely with the themes of the show, so I asked to photograph them.
I wanted these portraits to feel like part of the same world as the collection, rather than separate guest portraits.
Mood
I wanted the images to balance the fun and playful feeling of the show with something more calm and beautiful.
Some of the images have a soft, hazy quality. This wasn't something I planned beforehand, but I liked how it added to the dreamlike feeling of the set.
